Description: Katherine McIntire (American, Virginia, New York 1880-?) oil on canvas done in 1923 showing a busy street scene in Paris where the most prominent store titled “A’L’esperance”, is a seller of artful ceramics. Signed and dated lower right. Sight size is 31 by 25 inches and overall size with new frame is 37 by 32 inches. The painting has been cleaned and relined at some point and appears to be in excellent shape. McIntire was born in Richmond, Virginia and died in Charlottesville. She studied at the Art Students League with Kenneth Hayes Miller, the New York School of Fine and Applied Art, Ecole Moderne and the Academie Julian in Paris with LaForge, Guerin and Andre Lhote.
