Lot No. 0494

Manufacturer: 10

Artist: Beulah Barnes Weaver 1882-1957

Description: Beulah Barnes Weaver (American, Baltimore, D.C. 1882-1957) oil on canvas thought to be a street scene of Baltimore in 1929. An early Regionalist work by Weaver who taught, sculpted and painted in the D.C.-Baltimore area. Pictured are houses, apartments, water towers and an electric trolley on the cobblestone street along with two women chatting in front of a store window. Signed “B.B. Weaver” lower right and dated 1929 on the back of the canvas. Sight size is 24 3/4 by 31 3/4 inches and total size with frame is 29 1/8 by 36 1/8 inches. Older wooden frame seems original and has a nice mellow tone. Sadly there is evidence of labels on the back which are gone now. We would love to know more about the scene and artist and where she exhibited.

Estimate: $2,000.00 - $2,500.00
