Artist: Harry Sutton Palmer

Description: Harry Sutton Palmer (British, American, California, 1854-1933) watercolor entitled “Beneath the Crags of Ben Venue, Perthshire” a color illustration in “Scotland Painted by Sutton-Palmer Described By A.R. Hope-Moncrieff” a hard cover travel companion devoted to Scotland and published first in 1904. There are many color paintings by Sutton Palmer used in the text but this is the frontispiece for the book, placed opposite the title page. Sight size is 29 5/8 inches by 21 1/4 inches and with frame the total size is 38 1/4 inches by 30 inches. Signed lower right. The painting is enclosed in its original wide liner complete with hand painted title and artist but the thin outer frame is new. Not examined out of the frame. Accompanying the painting is 1920’s second edition of the Hope-Moncrieff text in which the painting is pictured.
