Lot No. 1479

Manufacturer: Edward Volkert

Artist: Edward Volkert

Description: Edward Volkert watercolor on heavy paper, a study done for murals at Western Hills High School in Cincinnati. Pictured in three separate sections are five views of cattle, three of which are titled and signed by Volkert. Titles are from left to right: Connecticut Road, Misty Morning and Wooding It. Sight size is 5 3/4 by 17 1/8 inches and overall size with new frame and linen mat is 12 1/4 by 23 3/4 inches. Volkert, a Cincinnati native, is noted for his paintings of cows which he actually liked better than most humans. He did produce murals for Western Hills High School and they still exist but we do not know if these correspond to what he was commissioned to do. From the collection of Walter E. Langsam and sold by Cincinnati Art Galleries several years ago. Good overall condition with a small stain on the right side.

Estimate: $400.00 - $500.00
