Lot No. 1581

Manufacturer: Rookwood

Artist: Helen McDonald

Description: Handsome Porcelain scenic lamp vase created, circa 1937, by Helen McDonald. Done in McDonald’s lush pastel colors with a complex scene that encircles the tall form. Marks include the Rookwood logo on the bottom and McDonald’s monogram on the side. Height 14 inches. Uncrazed. This form has a cast hole in the bottom and is not drilled but at some point, chipping around the cast hole has occurred taking out the shape number and date. This appears to be shape number 614 B, a favorite of the artist. We are quite certain this is an original Rookwood lamp because the heavy brass, Art Deco fittings and mogul (3 way) socket are what the company used in the late 1930’s when lamps were one of the few things in production. Although not pictured, the fittings are available to the purchaser.

Size: 14

Estimate: $2,000.00 - $2,500.00
