Artist: Maria Longworth Nichols

Description: Perfume jug incised and decorated with grass, a rabbit, three owls on a tree branch, a bat and the moon, done in 1882. Marks include Rookwood in block letters, the date, shape 61 and a G for ginger clay. The piece is unsigned but the subject matter and style point to the work of Rookwood founder, Maria Longworth Nichols. There is faint crazing and a 1/2 inch firing line on the underside. Height is 4 1/2 inches.
