Rare Rookwood vase with electroplated copper covering areas of carved flowers and stems done in 1901 by Kataro Shirayamadani. The ceramic portion of the vase is a simple, undecorated, mat body done in shades of yellow and peach. The carved and electroplate areas encompass the rim and base along with five stems which connect the two areas. Marks seen through the electroplated bottom include the Rookwood logo and date, shape number 24 Z and the incised cypher of the artist. Height 5 1/4 inches. Light crazing in the thick, slightly curdled mat glaze.
