Impressive Russian Icon, provenance from the Humble Collection. The wood panel exhibits the Mother of God cradling the infant Christ. They are flanked by three female Saints, Kharitina, Paraskeva and Matrona and by the Archangel Gabriel. Mother and Child are skillfully swaddled in garments made from of meticulously crafted beadwork adorned with 80 brilliant cut glass rhinestones. Their crowns are encircled with a gilded brass nimbi edged with an ornate open work pattern. The oklad facade is embellished with intricate patterns and protects a fully finished painting.
