Manufacturer: Steuben

Description: Important Steuben ”Independence” compote from the American Ballad Series. Created in 1942 by senior staff designer George Thompson and the engraving by Chief associate designer Sidney Waugh. The crystal compote is realistically engraved with four figural groups portraying the pioneering history of the United States. The groups are entitled “Colonization”, “Exploration”, “Independence” and “Expansion.” The carving “Expansion” bears the signature of Mr. Waugh beneath. The diamond point Steuben signature beneath the base. Height 7 1/2 inches, diameter 9 inches. Excellent condition. The bowl is accompanied with the original factory box and a red presentation folder with an 8X10 glossy.
