Standard Glaze 10 5/8 inch vase graced with the portrait of Chief Sitting Bull, Chief of all the Sioux Nation and famous for his resistance to the United States Government’s breaking contracts with the Indian population and for his defeat of General George Custer. The vase, decorated by Sturgis Laurence in 1900, bears the Rookwood logo, which indicates the date, and shape 907 D and is incised with the subject’s name and his tribe and with Mr. Laurence’s cypher. There is light crazing and a minor scratch. Make it your “Manifest Destiny” to be the high bidder on this beauty!
