Lot No. 1116

Manufacturer: Rookwood

Description: Colonial Woman pair of bookends, designed by William McDonald, cast in 1915 and covered with a neat version of the Nacreous Glaze. Impressed with the Rookwood logo, the date, shape 2185 and an upside down P, indicative of the luster glaze. In this case, a green Nacreous Glaze was applied with gold applied judiciously in places. There is a wheel ground X, perhaps for a problem at the rear corner of one figure, and there has been restoration there. Height of each is 5 1/2 inches and the glaze is quite uncommon.

Estimate: $250.00 - $350.00
