Handsome Mahogany Glaze vase with daisy decoration painted in 1886 by Albert Valentien. The Standard glaze over red clay has produced patches of Goldstone and Tiger Eye in several areas. An interesting feature of the vase is the thrown concentric rings around the base and part way up the stem. Marks include the Rookwood logo (no flame marks indicating 1886) shape number 292 A, R for red clay and the incised initials of the artist. Height 16 1/2 inches. The vase appears to be uncrazed and there are some very minor scratches. A nice example of Mahogany glaze and Mr. Valentien’s work.
